Starting the day being invaded by pirates from Eastport, Lubec will be in a festive mood on Saturday, September 1. Among the musical events, Cobscook Bay Music and the Crow Town Gallery will present Maine musicians Jud Caswell and Alfred Lund in concert.

Although he's known for his Bath and Brunswick appearances at Byrnes Irish Pub, Jud's concert performances are a completely different musical experience. They include banjo picking, Irish drinking songs, a rack of acoustic instruments, and a deep catalog of award-winning originals. He’s often compared to James Taylor and David Wilcox, but his songs draw on a long musical history and wide-ranging influences from jazz and Piedmont blues to contemporary folk and rock. Winner of many song writing awards, Jud has opened for the Americana trio Red Molly, among others.

Having performed with Jud for some twenty years, Alfred Lund is a percussionist and vocalist from Winthrop, ME. He performs on a wide variety of instruments he's made himself, from his hand-carved ashikos to his re-purposed speaker-box cajon to the inimitable "maraccasin" shaker-shoe. Coming from a background as a set drummer, his hands-on ensemble of percussion instruments add the perfect drive to acoustic folk and traditional musics.
