Crow Town Gallery JAZZ!
Greg Abate, Jon Wheatley, Paul Del Nero
Greg Abate tours the globe 225 days a year. One of those days he brings his music to Lubec, Maine. This year he returns to the Crow Town Gallery in August with bassist Paul Del Nero and guitarist Jon Wheatley. Many words of praise have been said and written about all three musicians.
Greg David Franklin of Jazz Times said:
“Multi-saxophonist Greg Abate is a prime example of the ‘rear back and blow’ school of contemporary bop-based players. The tunes he writes or chooses are based on the kinds of changes that harmony-oriented jazzmen have favored since the beginning and he swings through them with and eager and easy virtuosity.”
Paul Del Nero has performed on acoustic and electric bass. He has played many national and international jazz festivals, clubs, and shows. He has toured with the famous Artie Shaw Orchestra under the direction of Dick Johnson, For over 25 years, Paul had been a regular choice of blues legend, Mose Allison, Paul is a Professor at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Associate Professor of Guitar at the prestigious Berklee College of Music. Jon performs with a Benedetto Bravo 7-String and is one of Boston’s busiest guitarists and educators. His career spans more than three decades, including as a sideman with luminaries like Scott Hamilton, Ruby Braff, Alan Dawson, Teddy Kotick, Diana Krall, and Mike Metheny, to name a few, and all have benefited from his masterful seven-string playing.
